The Freedom of the Sun

Image
Today's card is The Sun. The Sun rules success, vitality, health, and gives an overall sense of optimism. Notice the figures in the card dancing joyously. They are reveling in the dance of life. Nothing weighs them down. They are free. This freedom is our birthright. Only we can imprison ourselves. We are naturally free. We deny our freedom with fears of the future, fears of what others may think, say, or do. We imprison ourselves with low self-esteem, lack of trust or a sense of unworthiness. Today is the day to be free. What would freedom mean to you? Reflect upon this and look at what you have already. You may be freer than you think. If you're not, what's holding you back. Looking at this honestly is the key to your prison.

Free to be grateful

I know it sounds corny, but I have a lot to grateful for. I have a loving, supportive life partner who is always there for me. I live in a paid for home in a nice neighborhood. We have a small lake in our backyard and a half mile down the road is a bigger lake with a jogging trail. I go there everyday and enjoy the natural beauty that awaits me. There's kingfishers, egrets, ducks, all sorts of trees and greenery. I work in my field of choice helping others and getting paid good money to do it. Sure it has it's slow times, I was getting kind of grumpy earlier this week because nothing much has been happening and I spent a lot of money in Las Vegas in October...hey, I actually got to go on vacation with the love of my life and some of her family. I spent some money I don't have and went out and bought some video equipment to blog with and make promotional videos. With that and my vacation I'm a little in the hole. But so what? There's people in a really bad way financ

Bob's Blazing Blog-12/7/08

Bob's Blazing Tarot Blog from bob decker on Vimeo . I'm getting more and more into doing videos-my latest obsession. I'm getting a lot of Magician/Mercury energy in my readings lately. A lot of transformative energy is in the air as well as an abundance of creativity. I'm going to be doing some writing as well. Right now I'm enthused about my video projects. I hope you enjoy my latest creation.

The Times, They are A'Changin'

This is my weekly three card spread that I email out to everyone. I recently started video blogging on Tarot Cards. Please take a look-it's less than 4 minutes long.

I send up the white flag

"There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle, or the mirror that reflects it." -Edith Wharton Strange things were happening - people were being really nice to me. Then, things went back to "normal" the shop owner was a dick to me. The cashier didn't even say thank you when I gave her my money. The young boy just walked in front of me and didn't hold the door of the elevator to be polite. The stranger passing me on my walk didn't return the obligatory "hello". Ah, all back to normal. Everyone is stressed, pissed and in a shitty mood. Wait one minute, could it be me? Next I am going to get myself all worked up and start to feel a cold coming on. It wouldn't be my fault, it would be the change of weather, right? Well, well, now, it couldn't be more obvious. I am the damm Wendy Whiner and the Grumpy Bump all rolled up into one big walking bitch. I do love to be the bitch. It's like leaving the house with the bedroom a mess a

When the cat leaves, it's all good.

For those of you just tuning in, our favorite family pet was missing for 29 days and after a massive search he was found and returned home this morning. He had spent the last two weeks at a nice family home a mile and a half from our house, heading west toward the everglades. My gratitude goes out to the man who called this morning to tell me that our cat was being well cared for at the home of one of his friends in Weston. Through the course of the 29 days I got many calls and followed up on 14 cat sightings. None were Charlie and no one on the other end of the phone sounded so certain as this man did. I hung up the phone and called my husband sobbing telling him that this was it. And when we got to the house, it was it. It was Charlie. The garage door was open and a dark shadow was sitting on top of the washing machine. I got closer and saw his form and eyes and shrieked, "Charlie!" He meowed and jumped right down and came to me. I picked him up and cried so hard that I was

Religulous- A movie worth seeing

Image
Comedian Bill Maher's documentary, " Religulous " opened October 1st and based on the lack of movie houses that let the movie in the door it will probably be a box office flop. That's ok . It was a crack in the door. A start in the right direction. My husband and I saw the movie last night and there was only one other person in the theater. It really wasn't a surprise, as our general populous does not want to hear the truth about religion. I'll tell you the little secret. It's all man made, just like those plastic boxes that our left over and take out food goes in. Yes, I did just compare religion to a styrofoam box. It holds all the left overs. Sometimes, it holds the food we really didn't need to eat in the first place. It holds sauces and juices that spill out and make a mess. It's that box that we leave in our car and then at a later date we remember we left it there and then it is rotten and it stinks. Since I was in grade school, I went to

The friends I seek are seeking me

Image
So our favorite family pet, correction, cat, "Charlie" has been missing from Weston Florida since October the 14th. He was last seen a week ago near a house that is open and being renovated. We've put out over 200 flyer's in mailboxes, posted another 50 around our town, held two focused visualization sessions to bring him home and today, as I do often, I opened my self to the higher in me and tuned into "In Tune With the Infinite". It's a book that is equivalent to my Bible. It has never failed to comfort me or give me a clear answer. A few minutes ago, I closed my eyes, flipped the book around , asked for the message to come to me about Charlie and when I opened my eyes, here is what was on the page: "I stay my haste, I make delays, For what avails this eager pace? I stand amid eternal ways, And what is mine shall know my face. Asleep, awake, by night or day, The friends I seek are seeking me; No wind can drive my bark astray, Nor change the tide o

The Moses Code for Buddha

Image
Originally I posted this in 2008. It's worth reading again. This weekend I took a workshop led by James Twyman, the author of the Moses Code. I highly recommend the book, the movie and the CD. One of the tracks of the CD has a frequency meditation based on a numerical value of the name of God. Not the word God but the name of God. When James Twyman played the CD in the small conference room, the energy shifted. You can call me goofy or Pollyanna... or you can just get a copy of it and listen to the Moses Code Meditation track. We had all just come in when he asked us to close our eyes and feel the energy in the room. What I heard was someone switching an old radio dial....interference and noise. Then he played the Moses Code Meditation track, just part of it. When he turned it off he asked us again to feel the energy in the room. What I heard was a hum, a pink and purple rainbow hum. Back to my earlier comment when I said you may call me goofy, yes, I heard colors... I liked it

I threw out the TV

For years I watched very little TV. I watched Saturday morning cartoons and the occasional TV movie, but as a teenager I spent most of my time in my room, listening to music and reading books on philosopy and musicology. My parents would get angry at my disdain for their favorite TV series and demand I that I would sit in the living room and look at what I described as the "idiot box". I was almost totally indifferent during my college years. My fraternity brothers would grow disturbed at my apathy. They'd ask me what I wanted to watch and I would reply that I didn't care, it was all the same to me, though of course I do fondly remember John Belushi on Saturday Night Live. Does anyone remember the Cone Heads? Through most of my adult life I didn't even have a TV, and when I did, it was hooked up to VCR so I could watch my favorite action and horror films. When I did have cable I would watch MTV and that was about it. But since I moved in with my better half, Bar

Mercury Retrograde

For years I've been hearing horror stories about Mercury Retrograde. Computers fail, travel is a disaster, communications go awry. Some folks strenuously avoid signing anything. Others insist it's a poor time to get a psychic reading. This last one brings a smile to my face. I remember years ago reading for a friend of mine whose sister scowled at her for taking a reading during a retrograde. Moments later both were stunned as I proceeded to identify the four questions she had on her mind as well as outline some useful advice. I have some clients that are big on astrology and won't schedule an appointment until retrograde passes, and that's fine. However. no one can tell me I can't read well during a retrograde based on my experience. Today a friend forwarded me an email described the typical perils of retrograde that I mentioned above. One thing the little article did say was that people born during a retrograde were inclined to experience increased financial

True Abundance

This coming November marks my twentieth year of sobriety. On November 28th of 1988 I became painfully aware that I had no control of my drinking and cocaine abuse. After a horrific series of binges I knew if I continued to use I would die or go insane. I had been living with a male roommate who had rescued me from living on the street. At one point I had been sleeping in a little electric meter room behind the Midnight Bottle Club. I was sitting in a bar one day, getting ready to drink my last eight dollars I had to my name so I could go pass out inside that little meter room. In walked Chris, one of my co-workers, who had discovered I was homeless. He took me home and gave me some clean clothes and a place to sleep on the living room couch. We became fast friends. We were joined at the hip and shared many drug drenched adventures together. He was sort of like a big brother figure to me. He would watch over me and reel me in when I got too far out there. When I got sober Chris started

Getting unstuck

Sometimes I'm an expert at getting in my own way. My latest thing has been geeking out. I love messing with the computer. It's just that sometimes messing with the computer messes with my priorities. My not posting to this blog is a prime example. Now everyday I have stuff to do online. I update my Tarot website (www.bobstarot.com) with a daily Tarot card draw. I check my several email accounts and respond to messages from Myspace. I add content to my websites and Twitter when I have the chance. But I let myself get distracted with too much geek stuff. I got to where I was spending a lot of time at lifehacker.com. For those of you not familiar with the site, it centers around technology and time management. The motto of the editors is "geek to live". This is the inverse of what many people get caught up in, which is living to geek. And that's where the irony and the balancing point is at. It's good to know computers, knowledge is power and software is meant t

My First Regression

Back in the 1980's my teacher, Dick Sutphen, used to make these really cool VCR tapes that could put you into an altered state very easily. You could look at the psychedelic graphics and get drawn right into your TV screen. While this was happening he would be doing a hypnotic induction, followed by positive suggestions. Underneath all this were subliminal suggestions relating to the goal of the tape (pscyhic ability, chakra balancing, etc.). One spring night I got the chance to meet him. He was at a local bookstore doing a one-night workshop on hypnosis. Dick is a tall, athletic individual in his mid 60's. He has a dynamic energy about him and conveys complete self-confidence when you meet him. In the 80's he was famous for taking hotel ballrooms full of people and regressing them back to past lives. I was very impressed with the workshop. He was there to promote his weekend seminar which was slated for the following morning. I was intrigued and decided to look at one o

Sarah Palin

This post is not very happy. Wake UP People!!!! This election is about the Republican vs. Democratic agenda not about Black vs. White or Old vs. Young or Man vs. Woman! Oh how you are being manipulated!!! OH MY GOD!!! It irks me to no end that many people in this country are actually "Happy" that Sarah Palin is on the Republican ticket as the next in line to run the country in the event that Ole ' McCain kicks the bucket in the White House......which is very possible as he has had four bouts with cancer... Although they have dragged his Mother out to show everyone that longevity runs in the gene pool. If you are one of the Americans who are happy about the Palin choice, I would really like to hear from you and I want to know if your head is buried in the sand or are you just NUTS? By the way, I am not a Republican. I am just very upset that our country is yes, it truly is full of millions of idiots that think that she is the end all be all. Then you have the pr

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence

Image
Have you ever had a dream that you just couldn't seem to get out of your head and you keep trying to figure out what it means? I had a dream the other night and for the last few days, I have been replaying what I said and what I saw in my dream. Then, today after a phone conversation, it hit me. I know what the dream is all about. In my dream I was in an unfamiliar yard but it was my yard none the less. I was pacing the lawn and I kept telling everyone, I just want greener grass. I just really want to see green, green grass in my yard! You have heard the old saying, "The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence." We often think that the grass will be greener somewhere else. We don't see how perfect and beautiful our own grass is. In my dream, I could not see that my grass was green but to make things worse, I couldn't find any green grass anywhere, not across the street and not in any other area. The good thing was I was looking in my own yard for th

Fire Tender

Image
The hikers had stopped to rest for the evening; their exhausted bodies gave in to the end of the day and now they lay in a deep sleep next to smoldering embers, remnants from an earlier fire. Near by, several large bears raise their muzzles and get a whiff of the inviting air. They've found their prey. Like an alarm sounding, an unbearable chill wakes one of the campers. He refuels the fire and the soul, the nucleus of the outdoor home is set a blaze again. Binding the hikers together, the glowing campfire like the family hearth keeps them safe and warm. Respecting the fire, the bears turn and go in search of other prey. The Fire Tender, in tune, knew all too well that even when the fire went out a good many things can still go on. In Native American spiritual culture, the Fire Tender plays a vital role in building and maintaining the fire for the Sweat Lodge Ceremony. Native Americans implemented the Sweat Lodge Ceremony to bring about mental, physical and spiritual healing as w

The thought behind our words is powerful

The bigger picture. What does that mean when someone full of such arrogance says, let's focus on the bigger picture. What is the bigger picture and why not focus on the details? I am a proponent of focusing on the bigger picture, albeit my bigger picture not their bigger picture. So, when some one says, let's focus on the bigger picture, they mean let's look at the world the way I do, shall we. Words are so powerful. What is behind our words is even more powerful. Maybe I just need to retreat and be very quiet for a little while and just …. Focus on the bigger picture. If you don't hear from me, you will understand wont you?

The Violet Flame Meditation

The Violet Flame is without a doubt one of the most powerful meditations I have ever experienced. I get a great sense of inner cleaniness, a tremendous reduction in any inner rage or anger, a decrease of any sort of negativity. It centers around an ascended master called Saint Germain. Now he wasn't a Catholic saint, he was a French and his first name was Saint. But in a way ascended masters are like saints, they are people who once walked the face of the earth and were given the option upon their demise of either going totally into the light, or, remaining close to the earth and its inhabitants to aid in our spiritual evolution. The ascended masters correspond to various colors, which in turn are called "rays". These rays get assigned to different chakras and various areas of human endeavor. Saint Germain is in charge of the Violet Ray. This is the ray of the 21st century, the ray of magick, freedom, and healing. The color violet is of the highest vibration, surpassed

The 4 Noble Truths, according to Buddha

Image
I don't know where this is coming from as I am only 7 weeks old in this new body; but, I must write about the 4 Noble Truths. These are not exactly as I learned them in the last life but, they are 4 Noble Truths as I know them in this lifetime. The First Noble Truth is "Yelping Low"- Yelping low is an uncontrollable sound that rises on a wave of deep pain. The sound flows out right before total release comes. For example, upon waking with a full bladder after sleeping for 8 hours, one may yelp low. Yelping low happens in a wake state, with the feeling of intense pain with the urge to let go; but, one consciously chooses to hold on until help arrives. Another example of Yelping Low is when one has to leave a familiar pack of parents, brothers, sisters and humans. The pain can be deep; Yelping Low helps to let go of the love of the past and move to the love of the future. When you let go and ride the wave toward the future, the Universe rewards you. The second Noble Truth:

Talking Tree

Image
The tree spoke and it said, "You know you are the calm space that you just felt. You know in the depth of your being that my energy is communicating with your energy. Certainly my body, this branch with leaves on it, waving before your body on the path is not talking to a human body. And my tree body is not listening to your organic, human body. Surely it is your mind that fears death. Your spirit may even fear death but that thought, that voice, that ear that is listening to me does not fear death. You are not in your body and you are not dead. You have never been more alive and aware than you are right now. You have known for many years that you and I are one. You are it and I am it. Remember? Humans can be so forgetful. You have been so close so many times in your life but you don't seem to be able to hang on to the calm space long enough to hear nothing and then hear everything." I told the tree that I felt like I was dreaming, floating and non existent. I said, is th

Scars

Forty years ago this month I fell off my bicycle. It was a warm August morning and I was frantically pedaling up the street when something went wrong. I wound up sliding on the pavement, badly scraping my knee. It took 2-3 weeks to heal and my knee was very sore. And forty years later I still have faint scar on my knee. Through the course of our lives we acquire many scars. There's of course the scars from bicycle accidents, sport injuries and schoolyard fights. And later in life some of us have surgery or other procedures which leave their mark. And then there's the other kinds of scars. Wounded feelings from how our mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers treated us as we grew up. Hurt feelings between friends and lovers, the emotional scars from our relationships. And of course there's the mental scars, minds frozen in patterns of resistance and limitation because of the emotional pain. These are more subtle scars that carry lifelong influence upon us. Is there

Expect a Miracle

"That's it". First thing in the morning, connecting with the energy of the universe the voice spoke. It was a familiar voice, comforting, like the voice she heard when she was a child. It was reassuring, nurturing and clear. The voice spoke again and said, "One". Sitting in her big comfy chair, looking out on to the small grassy backyard, she picked up her fortune telling cards, took a deep breath and held them up to her chest. Flipping the cards over, feeling them as they fanned out in her hands, she closed her eyes and felt the connection. She looked and picked a card. The card was the number 1, just like the voice told her. A breeze rose from within and flowed out over her entire physical body. She looked down at the card, with a picture of a regal lion basking in the sun; the lion was confidently looking out with pride both surveying and protecting his territory. She read the meaning of the #1 card out loud, according to the author, Crystal Bush, "

Twins

Twin Boys, twin livesThe stories of identical twins' nearly identical lives are often astonishing, but perhaps none more so than those of identical twins born in Ohio. The twin boys were separated at birth, being adopted by different families. Unknown to each other, both families named the boys James. And here the coincidences just begin. Both James grew up not even knowing of the other, yet both sought law-enforcement training, both had abilities in mechanical drawing and carpentry, and each had married women named Linda. They both had sons whom one named James Alan and the other named James Allan. The twin brothers also divorced their wives and married other women - both named Betty. And they both owned dogs which they named Toy. Forty years after their childhood separation, the two men were reunited to share their amazingly similar lives. (Source: Reader's Digest, January 1980)

My Latest Travel Notes

Saturday morning I woke up at 8:30 and told my husband about a dream I just had. Then, I got myself ready and I went to the gym. While I was at the gym in a spin class, my husband called his sister and told her about my dream. Here is what he said to her, "I thought I would call you to tell you about this dream that Robyn had about you this morning. She dreamt that she went to your house in Richmond and went downstairs in the big room at the end of the hall on the right, Angela's room. Then, she opened the door and asked you if you would like to go to a spin class with her. You told Robyn, thanks, but I think I will keep sleeping. Robyn also said there was some one else sleeping in the room but it was not your husband. She also said it was a male energy. Robyn said she was confused because you were not in your bedroom. Then Robyn woke up and told me about her dream." Emerson's sister replied, "Oh My God. Your nephew and I feel asleep watching a movie in Angela

your life's mission

after reading "mission possible" i actually did google life's mission and this is one of the many links that came up 5 Ways to Find Your Life's Mission By Abhinabha Tangerman Platinum Quality Author Where are we here for? A well-known question, no doubt, but also one which has slid down from its noble heights into the black hole of the cliché. For we seldom ask ourselves this question in earnest. Yet if we did, we would rediscover new meaning in our lives. Knowing what we came to do here on earth, knowing our life's mission, can be richly rewarding. We would see ourselves shifting from boredom to freedom, from dread to joy and from frustration to happiness. As Walt Disney once said: "Do not dream your life; live your dream!" Here are five ways how we can discover our life's mission: 1. Go back to your childhood dreams. When you were a child you always lived in your heart. You enjoyed spontaneous happiness, without a care or worry in the world. You li

The Butcher

Uncle Don is my Mom’s only sibling and recently, we had a lengthy conversation about his Dad, my Grandpa. Uncle Don’s voice was strong, clear and moved quickly as he talked. I asked him to tell me how my Grandpa became a butcher. He wasn’t too sure how that happened, he must have apprenticed with someone and then the rest he was happy to share. My Protestant Grandpa ran his butcher shop in a neighborhood that was 90% Catholic. A few times a shop would try to make a go of it just a few houses down the street on the opposite side but never made it because Grandpa had, “A price for every pocketbook,” gave meat away to the poor, helped the widows and the elderly. Uncle said in the depression days the widows and the poor would come in with their bag and they would ask for just a little meat and Grandpa would tell them to give the bag to him and he would go to a counter in the back and fill up the bag with sausages and other meats that he had set aside for them. My Grandpa’s father was n

A rut and a grave only differ in depth.

Our lives tend to consist of a series of routines. From the time we "choose" to eat breakfast to the route we "pick" to get to work to the way we tend to "respond" to people around us are highly mechanized. We don't really "choose" much of anything. We pick up our routines from people around us, whether they be parents, bosses, friends or lovers. A lot of our energy goes into maintaining these routines. Consequently, we lose contact with the true source of our life force: eternal spirit. Disrupting or destroying our routines won't bring us closer to it. That would only disrupt our energy patterns for a while and possibly make our lives more difficult than ever. We tend to constantly look to the past or the future. By staying in the now, in the moment, we can begin to come into contact with that eternal source that lives within us. In my traditon it's referred to as the Holy Guardian Angel. Others call it Spirit, the Tao, God, etc. The

Mission Possible

"We each come to this world with a soul mission. However, most of us leave this world without ever having accomplished that mission. We return back "upstairs" and realize we had our sights set on all the wrong things. If we are lucky, we get a chance to start over and come back again. Why not get it right this time around? You don't want to go through the terrible two's again, do you? And puberty? I don't think so.Why are you alive? What did your soul come here to do? These are worthy questions to ask of yourself today. Too bad we can't just Google what our life mission is. Maybe some day. But for now, the best way to find the answer is to ask the question. Ask enough times - and with intensity - and you will start seeing signs pointing you in the right direction." - Daily Kabbalah Tune Up

Happiness Prescription

Image
1. Get a pen and paper. 2. Now, with your eyes closed, sit quietly and count backwards from 100-1. 3. Open your eyes and list of all your happiest moments. 4. Using the words, Comfort, Contentment, Joy, Delight, Bliss; rate your happy moments. Now you know what makes you happy; go do it.

Change

I am not sure who wrote this but I found it and thought it was worth sharing. "Welcome change. Welcome even those transitional phases that accompany change, where all of the old directions are lost and the new ones not yet established. Look back on your life and see the wonder of those periods in your life that seemed difficult at the time but that opened up new vistas of being, new doorways to growth and learning. What you do not want to do during times of transition is fight to regain what is gone, to walk backward in time, to chase what was or what you had wanted to be. When life changes all around you, because of circumstances or because you woke up a different person than you were the day before, allow your dreams to change as well. Do not think yourself weak or confused because you shift your aspirations".

Everyday Mysticism

" It is not to be learned by world flight, running away from things, turning solitary and going apart from the world. Rather, one must learn an inner solitude, wherever or with whomsoever he may be. "- Meister Eckhart I had a religion professor in college who was well known among the students for his seemingly lax requirements for subject matter of essays. One could write about anything so long as it was personal experience that tied in with spirituality. One day, one of my fellow students quipped, "that one could write about walking to the liquor store to get a pint, and if you could somehow tie it in with a spiritual topic, he'd accept it." That professor wasn't overly lax, in my opinion, he had a deep understanding of spirituality. As I quoted above from Meister Eckhart, a very famous mystic, we don't have to go to extraordinary places. To the contrary, mystics are often stunned to find that they don't ascend to an unity or super-spe

The Little Green Frog

Image
When they were in elementary grades, I distracted and amused my two daughters while brushing their long hair in the morning before they went off to school by making up stories. They were sweet stories about Wendy the whiner, the little green frog and the grumpy bump. My daughters forgot about my pulling and tugging and got lost in the dream world of the deep forest. Here's the story of how Wendy meets the little green frog and the grumpy bump. Once upon a time there was a little girl, her name was Wendy. Some called her Wendy whiner. She lived in a quaint house in the woods and everyday at about noon time she would leave her home and go out for a walk in the deep woods. She loved her time alone in the woods so much that she often went to work clearing dead branches to make walking paths. But, was she really alone? One day Wendy walked and walked in the woods and she started to get tired. Wendy sat down on a bright green mossy area where an old tree had fallen. Wendy laid back, rest

Spirituality

Image
When asked to define spirituality or to know it's purpose, there is no easy answer is there? There are as many definitions as there are minds to conceive the thought. Imagine you over heard the following conversation sitting watching a neighborhood baseball game. Two boys both about 6 years old, were sitting near me at a little league baseball game and I over heard their conversation. One said to the other, "Where is your Mom?" The other boy said, "She's dead." "I know that" the other responded, then added, "But, do you know where she is?" The other boy shook his head and said, "No, I don't know where she is." Recently I read something that said, this is an example of the beginners mind searching for spiritually. A child like open mind, starting to ask questions and finding no answers. You may have your definition but, most of us find it hard to explain what spirituality means. Just like the beginner mind finds it impossible

Next stop for Dade grad with palsy: Harvard

The story that you are about to read speaks volumes to our human potential. A very dear friend of mine had the pleasure of working with this young man during the past few years and employed various routines using aromatherapy, massage therapy, movement therapy and swimming. I hope that you will read this and be as touched as I was! Kevin Mintz rolled his electric wheelchair up to the podium in the middle of the stage Friday. He looked down at his white graduation gown and then addressed the crowd, his speech slow and labored. The teenagers in the audience, buzzing with restless energy minutes earlier, quickly hushed. In the front row, his parents held hands and smiled: Their son, who will never walk, who they once feared would never even talk, had risen to the top of his Robert Morgan Educational Center class -- and was tapped to address the student body at the Pharmed Arena at Florida International University. Next, he is headed to Harvard on a full scholarship. Kevin, 18, has cereb

Posted by "Sailor Girl" The Hatchet

The Hatchet, a book on CD. It's a true story about a boy of 12 who survives a plan crash and lives for many months in the wilderness of Canada with only a small hatchet to help him survive. His desire to live and how he problem solved each tough task brought him through this situation until he was finally rescued. The most important thing he learned, was that feeling sorry for himself, crying and giving up, only left him in the same situation, with nothing accomplished. Even though he had many set backs and when he began to give up, he told himself, "giving up, crying, feeling sorry for myself, still leaves me in the same place without a solution." Now that young man had perseverance. Paparazi you speak of Bob Decker's blog where he writes about failure, "self-doubt interfering with the process." Perhaps we don't follow through because of our motivation, we don't want it bad enough, as succeeding is not a matter of life and death, or with our

Happiness. Where has that childlike nature gone? We can manage and train our mind in order to achieve lasting happiness - no matter what the environment we are faced with. Meditation is key to this. Meditations for beginners can be found by going to: www.peacefullife.ca.

True Freedom

"Seek freedom of the self and from the self. Freedom of the self means freedom from oppressive environments and relationships, the freedom of a satisfying career and the freedom to make your life meaningful. Freedom from the self is true freedom-a matter of rising above your fears, adddictions, and obsessions -Dick Sutphen True freedom is freedom from within and from without. Not just in our external circumstances, but being free of our ego-based emotions. When we strip away those fears, we realize who we really are: beings of Divine Light, expressing unconditional love upon the earth. This also reinforces the freedom of the self, allowing us greater capacity to observe our dharma (True Will) and having resolved our karma, letting even more of this Light shine into the world.

Founded in 2002, Modest Needs is an award-winning public charity with a simple but critical mission: "We work to stop the cycle of poverty BEFORE it starts, for the low-income workers whom conventional philanthropy has forgotten. We do this by empowering compassionate members of the general public to safely and securely help hard-working, low-income households to afford the kinds of short-term emergency expenses that we've all encountered before: the unexpected car repair, the unanticipated visit to the doctor, or the unusually large heating bill, for example." Since 2002, by working together in this very 'modest' way, Modest Needs' donors have stopped 5112 low-income individuals and families from entering the vicious cycle of poverty and a lifetime of depe

You're not alone

Image
Remove the cloak you're wearing, a tapestry of self doubt and fear. You've stumbled on a place where others feel your pain. Clinking their glasses they've raised a toast to you. Shouting, "Misery loves company, welcome home blue!" There you are. Come, now take my hand and let’s leave this place. Don't look back. Look in my eyes. You're not alone; feel the E all around your face. We soar above the ground and you read my thoughts. There are times I feel so deeply and forget to protect myself too. When you went down to save someone that night, you left yourself open wide. You've been there several times and now you’re on their side. There you are. Come, now take my hand and let’s leave this place. Don't look back. Look in my eyes. You're not alone; feel the E all around your face. That's it, step away from the shadows and come closer to my voice. In one thought, the darkness is gone. We are here, we are all around you. Protect yourself my daug

The Higher Self

Within your Higher Self is the collective awareness of all that has ever been, all that is, and all that potentially can be-the Oneness. Know thy Higher Self -Dick Sutphen So how do we come to know this "Higher Self"? Meditation is the key preparation. By meditating we can quiet the mind to where we can hear the subtle voice that lies within. The monkey chatter of the mind drowns out the communication of Spirit. But meditation alone is not enough. We need to reach out to Spirit within ourselves. We ask for Divine protection and call out to our guides, masters and angels for assistance. From there it's a matter of shutting up the mind and trusting what comes to us. It may be voice. It may be vision. It may be in our gut. It doesn't matter how it comes, it's trusting that wisdom that comes from within that matters. Once we make contact, we can strengthen it through continued practice and thus build the trust that effective use of this process requires. Being able to

Signs Are Everywhere

I've been reading about synchronicity. Do I have to write the obvious? You have this one covered, right? We think we do but, we ignore the signs even when they are obvious. Signs are different than synchronicity but they may lead us to events that shape our our destiny. They can be life altering and most of the time they are easy to spot. When a friend says, "Did you see that?" and your response is, "See what?" Start keeping your eyes open, see the signs, they are right there. If you miss the first few, the creator will make the next ones more obvious.

Happy Memorial Day!

Hope you all had a nice long Memorial Day weekend and enjoyed the first day of the Mercury Retrograde.......Yep, just a heads up, Monday the 26th was not just Memorial Day, it was the start of a Mercury Retrograde. Remember, it is a great time to re- "anything", renovate, re-decorate, re-invent, re-unite,re-distribute,re-join,re-write,recreate, you get the idea. It is also a good time to find lost articles that you might have lost during the last retrograde. I lost a favorite earring and mysteriously, it showed up on the following retrograde. So, if you lose something, don't stress too much. You will probably find it in a few months. Things having to do with electronics can go haywire during this time and I'm not just talking about your Mac! Your car, your microwave, anything that has a computer chip in it can act up. (My power went out while typing this!) Depending on your sign and your particular chart, some retrogrades are worse than others. This one may not bother
